Queens’ College reverberated with festive zeal as students commemorated the sacred festival of Anant Chaturdashi on 27th September, 2023 offering a captivating display of India’s cultural richness. The event unfolded with a heartfelt Pooja and Aarti dedicated to Lord Ganesha, followed by a dazzling procession that celebrated the diverse traditions of different Indian communities.
To emphasize the diverse cultural tapestry of India, students dressed up in the traditional attire of various Indian communities, including Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Rajasthani, South Indian, and Marathi. This visual representation celebrated the multifaceted aspect of Indian culture, providing a vibrant representation of unity in diversity.
As the celebration unfolded, students took part in a grand procession that showcased the distinctive dances of each region truly highlighting the richness and diversity of Indian heritage.The school orchestra played traditional music, adding to the festivities by infusing the air with lively tunes. Vedic mantras were chanted, creating a spiritual ambiance that resonated with the sanctity of the occasion. The rhythmic beats of the Akhara (traditional Indian wrestling arena) and the grace of the Lazium (traditional stick dance) enthralled the audience and added an extra layer of charm to the procession.
The celebration reached its zenith when students, adorned as gods and goddesses, graced the procession with their presence.
As the festivities concluded, the joyous spirit of Anant Chaturdashi lingered, reminding all in attendance of the significance of preserving and celebrating India’s cultural mosaic.
