An Inter-house group discussion was organized for students of classes IX, X, XI, and XII to delve into the themes and concepts presented in four thought-provoking books – “Who Will Cry When You Die?”, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”, “Homo Sapiens,” and “Homo Deus”. The event aimed to inculcate reading habbits, critical thinking, encourage knowledge dissemination, and stimulate insightful discussions among the participants.
The discussion on “Who Will Cry When You Die?”, revolved around several concepts, including time management, prioritizing happiness, and cultivating meaningful relationships. The students of class IX shared personal anecdotes and practical tips regarding the book’s suggestions, such as maintaining a gratitude journal and embracing the power of solitude. The discussion on “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” centered on key lessons like finding balance, living in the present moment, and practicing mindfulness. Students of class X debated the relevance of these lessons to their own lives, acknowledging the significance of self-reflection and introspection in overcoming challenges. Students of class XI engaged in a lively debate based on the book ‘Homo sapiens’ wherein they discussed thought-provoking concepts, such as the cognitive revolution, the impact of agriculture on society, and the role of myths and religion in human culture. They expressed their opinions on how these historical events and concepts shape the present and future of humanity. Students of class XII contemplated the potential benefits and risks associated with advancements of technological progress, emerging AI systems and highlighted the importance of responsible innovation while articulating their analysis of the book “Homo Deus”.
The discussions enabled the participants to broaden their perspectives, critically analyze the themes, and apply the concepts to their own lives. Students of all the four houses from IX to XII enthralled the judges on the virtue of their critical thinking abilities. The winners were-
